“We’re finding that companies in the US are increasingly hungry for a more rapid and thorough approach to complex product design,” comments James Haliburton, CEO. "We have a great base of innovative clients who are really trying to push some boundaries.”
Topp has been working with companies like Samsung, Ford, Schneider Electric, E.ON, Saab, HERE, and many more.
A New Era of Capabilities
Topp’s Swedish design background combined with a deep capability to work with cutting edge technologies found in the likes of AI, data, NLP, or advanced interfaces & software creates a unique advantage when developing a new product or service. “It’s the lingonberry on the meatball.”
Most publicly known for helping to define the UX and service design for Samsung’s latest generations of wearables, Topp has been working with US clients and partners since 2013, bringing a Swedish design perspective in spaces like IoT, connected home, the future of enterprise, and over 30 other industry & technology categories.
Local San Francisco leadership includes Nathan Folkman (former SmartThings VP of Platform Innovation and Path CTO) and Johan Olsson (former design & prototyping leader at Samsung Design America and founder of US operations for mobile UI powerhouse TAT The Astonishing Tribe).
“San Francisco team members are going to be at the top of the field when it comes to mixing design with technology,” says Anna Oscarsson, Chief Operating Officer. “Our goal isn’t to become a massive resource company - it’s to be the best at creating new experiences.”
IOT Software Platform
In addition to providing design and prototyping services, Topp will be accelerating installations of its connected prototyping platform, Noodl - with a growing community of 10,000 designers and developers, Topp will be installing IoT prototyping labs in companies seeking to accelerate IoT product development efforts.
Topp was founded in 2013 after a cross-section of design and technology leadership left BlackBerry, where they had previously been part of the TAT The Astonishing Tribe acquisition in 2010.
Over the past four years, Topp has worked on nearly 100 projects for clients in over a dozen countries. From collaborations with Ford to working with Doctor’s Without Borders’ innovation unit, the team’s capabilities go beyond any single industry.
Topp’s mission is Shaping The New. San Francisco is the team’s third studio location.
